Christmas Roast Turkey Recipe - FoodieWhispers

Ingredients:

  • 1 (12-14 pound) turkey
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh sage
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  2. Remove giblets and neck from turkey cavity. Rinse turkey inside and out with cold water. Pat dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, combine butter, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, dried thyme, pepper, and salt.
  4. Loosely stuff turkey cavity with stuffing. Tuck wings under turkey.
  5. Place turkey, breast side up, on a rack in a roasting pan.
  6. Roast turkey for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh registers 165 degrees F (75 degrees C).
  7. Let turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.

Tips:

  • For a crispier skin, you can brush the turkey with melted butter or olive oil before roasting.
  • You can also add other herbs and spices to the stuffing, such as chopped onions, celery, and dried cranberries.
  • To make sure the turkey is cooked through, use a meat thermometer.
  • Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving to allow the juices to redistribute.

Enjoy your delicious Christmas roast turkey!
